The area has always been olive and grape country. There are three varieties of olives: Dritta, the most widespread, followed by Toccolana and Leccino, which are all used to produce PDO Aprutino Pescarese EVO. The olive oil here is of excellent quality and a flagship for this area. The cool, well-drained soils are ideal for grapes and the local varietals are Abruzzo’s black Montepulciano and white Trebbiano (the latter the most widespread white grape in central Italy), as well as Pecorino, which produces a sturdy white wine.

The Manoppello district has historic links with sheep farming and offers those who visit a wide chose of tasty traditional dishes, rich in aromas and flavours.
